Description
The European biogas and biomethane market is growing fast. The latest figures show an increase of 37% in biogas capacity across Europe. As this expansion continues, the vital role of biogases in achieving climate targets becomes increasingly clear.
Fully interchangeable with fossil natural gas, biogases offer a renewable alternative that is already being used across multiple applications, including heating systems, industrial processes and road and marine transport.
To guarantee sustainability, biogases must be transparently defined through clear characteristics. Independent third-party certification bodies play a crucial role in validating the environmental integrity of biogas and biomethane production.
This masterclass delves into the regulatory landscape and outlines the necessary steps to achieve proper certification and offers an in-depth exploration of both the opportunities and complexities involved in biomethane certification.
Furthermore, certification provides the foundation for standardised, transparent and transferable trading of biomethane across Europe by detailing its energy and environmental attributes.
